It’s never easy to say goodbye to someone that we love.

On Friday, The Selma community including the Myles Family mourned the tragic loss of 34-year old Mark Myles, who was a devoted mentor, servant leader and tireless advocate in Selma who continuously fought for the lives of young people.

This morning, his mother Chinia Myles spoke out on social media, reflecting upon the days before her son’s death and she said it feels like a “bad dream” she can never wake up from.

“It’s early Monday morning, as I wake up the first thing on my mind is my son, Mark,” Chinia said.” I am thinking in my mind that I had a bad dream about my son being dead, but unfortunately it’s not a dream, it’s a reality.”

Chinia went on to ask the Selma community to pray for her and her family during this difficult time and said that right now, they are “so broken and hurt inside”.

“I can only tell you,” said Chinia. “Love on your family”, we all have an expiration date and we don’t know what that date is. If I had known Wednesday morning when Mark dropped me off at the airport that would be the last time I would see my son alive, I wouldn’t have left him.”

Chinia said despite the tragic passing of her son, she is thankful to God for giving her almost three weeks with him before she went back home to Indiana.

“Only to get a phone call Friday night that he’s dead,” Chinia said. “I wouldn’t wish this hurt on anyone. Even though my heart is shattered right now, I can still attest to the goodness of God, with tears running down my face, I can still attest of the goodness of God.”

Chinia ended her public reflection by not only asking the public to keep her family in their prayers but the Allen family in their prayers as well.

China said despite circumstances, she has no hate for anyone except the enemy (the devil).
