On August 1st, 103.7 The Q hosted a free concert called the “Just Show Up” Show in Montevallo’s Orr Park featuring artists such as Alessia Cara, Echosmith, AJ Mitchell, and Stephen Puth.

The concert was presented by Bobby F. Shunnarah , a local dentist in Montevallo who owns the Montevallo Family Dentistry on Main Street.

“It was an honor and privilege to assist in bringing this concert to Montevallo. It was great having the community gather together in such a perfect location and environment . I hope that we can have it again next year”, said Shunnarah.

Doors opened at 5 p.m. for attendees and the concert started at 7 p.m. The concert was for the general public of all ages.

Concert-goers were welcomed by the radio station’s hottest hits playlist and remixes from older songs throughout the years.

“The music played made me want to expand my genre of music from listening to more than R-n-b and rap”, said Alex Ellis, a concert attendee and a native of Sprott, Alabama.

Mayor Hollie Cost welcomed the public and gave a huge shoutout to Shunnarah for putting on such a great event.

“As the state’s geographic and representative Center of the Arts, Montevallo was absolutely honored to host the “Just Show Up ” Show in our beautiful Orr Park. It was truly thrilling to see so many families enjoying the amazing musical lineup. From all perspectives, I feel like we can call this a huge success”, said Cost.

Wireless Carrier Metro By T-Mobile and the University of Montevallo sponsored the event as well. The Montevallo Police department and fire department also partnered with Shelby County and their sheriff’s office to monitor the event for safety.

As the time got closer to the show, attendees gathered around the stage with lawn chairs , blankets and food from vendors and on-site food trucks.

Some of the attendees even had fun flyers and posters to represent their favorite artist.

“It was my first time coming to an event like this and I wasn’t sure about who I was going to see, but overall it turned out to be pretty okay so I’m happy I came”, said Northern Steele, a concert attendee and a four-year student at the University of Montevallo.

Throughout the show, the radio station gave free shirts and shoutouts to winners from the hashtag ” Just Show Up Show” contest on Twitter.

Attendees who purchased their VIP-pass received a chance to meet the artists in person.

“We invite all who attended and those who missed out to “Just Show Up” in Montevallo to enjoy more of what we have to offer whenever the opportunity presents itself”, said Cost.
